Eyewear
Eye care is a dynamic field with constant technological advancements in frame and lens technologies. Dakota Vision Center works to stay informed on the latest in both fashion and function.
The VirtualFitLive system from Maui Jim is based on the most updated augmented technologies that blur the lines between what’s real and what’s computer generated. See yourself in as many styles as you like through the webcam on your computer; it’s just like looking in the mirror. Turn your head and the sunglasses move with you, allowing you to check out every angle of every style.
With VirtualFitPhoto™, snap photos through your computer’s webcam, use existing image files on your PC or from Facebook, or select from one of five photos of models who closely match your face shape. At that point, the chosen sunglasses will appear on your photograph. You can then save to your PC or post to Facebook.
As an enhancement to the whole website, all sunglasses now feature Virtual360o™ that allows the user to see a full, 360-degree perspective on each style. The pop-up and zoom options allow for a closer look at specific aspects of the glasses.

Lens Technologies – Science You Can See
Dakota vision Centers offers a full repertoire of lens products to help you get the best possible vision from your prescription lenses. With so many options in lens products it is important to note that we select lenses from manufacturers offering premium quality lenses that are precision ground to the highest ophthalmic standards.
Lens Designs:
Single Vision - this all-purpose lens is available in all materials, and can be used for either distance or near vision correction.
Mulitfocals - will be suggested when both distance and near correction are needed together in a single lens.
No-Line Progressives - correct for far (driving a vehicle), intermediate (viewing the dashboard), and near (reading a map) vision all in one lens. Because there is no visible line, progressives have the appearance of single-vision lenses and are, therefore, the most cosmetically desirable multifocal. Progressives are available in all lens materials.
Bifocals - provide both far (driving) and near (reading a map) correction in one lens.
Trifocals - provide far, near and intermediate correction in one lens. The majority of the lens is for distance viewing, while the center portion is divided into intermediate and near viewing segments.
Lens Materials:
If you are still wearing standard plastic lenses you may be missing out. Newer lens materials offer thinner edges, less weight, and superior optics while also protecting your eyes from harmful uv rays. DVC has the latest in hi-tech lens materials such as trivex and 1.74 hi index. We can help you select the option that is best for you.
Lens Enhancements:
Anti-reflective treatment – dispensers suggest anti-reflective, or AR lenses, to help reduce eye fatigue in all situations, particularly while viewing computer screens and driving at night. In addition to enhancing vision by removing distracting reflections, AR lenses are cosmetically desirable, as the wearer's eyes are clearly visible behind the lenses.
Scratch resistant treatment - recommended to protect lenses from everyday wear-and-tear. Some materials, such as high impact resistant, high-index lenses, and several new plastic lens designs, include scratch protection.
Photochromic Lenses - Sometimes called "comfort" lenses, photochromic lenses darken and lighten according to light exposure. If the wearer is in the sun, photochromics darken, if indoors, the lenses are light. Photochromic lenses are available in virtually all lens materials and lens designs. Ask your eyecare professional for a demonstration.
Polarized Lenses - are the top pick for eliminating glare. Hunters, boaters and fishermen, golfers, and drivers are a few who benefit from polarized lens' glare-cutting properties. Any surface can create glare in sunlight, including water, sand, snow, windows, vehicles, and buildings. Polarization eases eye stress and fatigue in the sun, and comes in several color and density options.
