InfantSEE® Program
InfantSee is a no-cost public health program developed by former President Jimmy Carter. Under this program, doctors of optometry may register to donate their professional eye care services for infants 6-12 month of age.
During an InfantSee examination, we are able to evaluate the visual acuity of your infant, with specific tests and instrumentation, the ocular health, both externally, as well as internally, and identify the refractive status of your infant (nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism).
Vision disorders are the fourth most common disability in the United States. Below the age of 6, only about 14 percent are likely to have had an eye and vision examination.
Visual development is most dramatic between 6 and 12 months of age and early detection can prevent and help reduce the threat of serious vision impairments. A comprehensive ocular examination is an important part of your infants overall health and development.
